Occupational Safety and Health Resource Locator
Overview
Twenty-four (24) states are covered entirely by the federal OSHA program.
An important feature of the Michigan State Plan is that MIOSHA rules apply not only to the private sector, but also to the public sector. This makes MIOSHA along with the other State Plans, unique when compared with federal OSHA; because in those states where the federal government has authority, occupational safety and health rules do not apply to public agencies. This concept has been present in MIOSHA since its enactment in 1974.
